About Synthivan Tablets
Synthivan Tablet is an antiretroviral medication which is used to treat and prevent HIV/AIDS. It is usually recommended to use with other antiretroviral. It may also be used for prevention after a needlestick injury or other potential exposure. It is directed to be taken via the mouth once a day.
Synthivan Tablet binds itself to the active site of HIV protease and prevents it from splitting the pro-form of viral proteins into the working machinery of the virus. If the HIV protease enzyme does not work then the virus is not infectious, and no mature virions are made.

Synthivan Tableis a combination of two anti-HIV medicines: Atazanavir and Ritonavir.
Synthivan Table work by interfering with an enzyme (protease), which is required by HIV-infected cells to make new viruses. This stops the production of new viruses.

instruction for Dosage of Synthivan Tablet
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
Warnings for special population
Synthivan Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
Synthivan Tablet is recommended for use in breastfeeding women only in life-threatening conditions. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue the drug or to discontinue breastfeeding based on your clinical condition.
Synthivan Tablet should be used with caution in patients with a history of liver diseases and active liver diseases due to the increased risk of hepatotoxicity. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Bleeding disorders –
Synthivan Tablet should be used with caution in patients with bleeding disorders such as Hemophilia A or Hemophilia B due to an increase in the risk of excessive bleeding. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor on priority. Replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Fat Redistribution –
Synthivan Tablet may cause fat gain or fat loss from the body. This may result in peripheral wasting, facial wasting, breast enlargement, and Cushingoid appearance. Close monitoring of body weight and body fat distribution is necessary while receiving this medicine. Any changes in the body should be informed to the doctor on priority.
Synthivan Tablet may alter the blood glucose levels and may also increase the risk of new-onset diabetes mellitus. Close monitoring of blood glucose levels is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments of the anti-diabetic agents or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
