What is Dinex EC 250 (didanosine)?
Dinex EC 250mg is an antiviral medicine that prevents human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) from multiplying in your body. Didanosine is used to treat HIV, the virus that can cause acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). Didanosine is not a cure for HIV or AIDS.
Use of Dinex EC 250mg is for in adults and children who are at least 2 weeks old. Didanosine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Dinex EC 250mg Capsule prevents the multiplication of HIV virus in human cells. Thus stops the HIV virus from producing new viruses.

Instruction for Dosage of Dinex EC 250mg
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
Warnings for special population
Dinex Ec 250 mg is recommended in pregnant women only if necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
Dinex Ec 250 mg is recommended for use in breastfeeding women only in life-threatening conditions. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue the drug or to discontinue breastfeeding based on your clinical condition.
Non-cirrhotic Portal Hypertension –
Dinex Ec 250 mg Capsule should be used with caution due to the increased risk of portal hypertension. Close monitoring of liver enzymes, serum bilirubin, albumin, and complete blood count is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of any unusual side effects.
Dinex Ec 250 mg Capsule should be used with extreme caution due to the increased risk of pancreatitis. Report any symptoms such as severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, etc. to the doctor immediately. Therapy may be discontinued based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Take precautions while taking didanosine as it may cause conditions such as peripheral neuropathy , changes in eye, pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), changes in body fat distribution,
osteonecrosis (death of bone tissue) and reoccurrence of symptoms from previous infections (Immune Reactivation Syndrome) or opportunistic infections (infections due to weakened immune system).
Seek for immediate medical attention if you develop a condition called as lactic acidosis (increased levels of lactic acid in blood),
which can turn fatal if not treated; or if you observe any symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and stomach pain.Inform your doctor if you are suffering from or have a history of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), kidney or liver diseases (hepatitis B or C infections)
Tell your doctor if you are or are planning to become pregnant. Didanosine if consumed in combination with stavudine during pregnancy may increase the chance of lactic acidosis.
Patients who are taking Dinex Ec 250 mg along with ganciclovir, valganciclovir are more prone to side effects and hence require close supervision.
